One of the first things I ask every guest for is an emergency contact back home. Not because I expect anything to go wrong. Because that's what you do when you care about the people staying with you.
Once you're settled, you'll have a homemade dinner with Jorge and me. We'll answer your questions, share the places we love, and help you feel a little less like someone who just arrived.
You're staying independently. But you're not here alone.
Both homes are dog friendly.
It's where I lived when I first moved here. It's where my sons and daughter in law stay when they visit, and my sister and her husband, and my friends from San Diego. The art on the walls is art I chose. The linens, furniture, and dishes are the ones I chose for myself.
When you stay here, you're not a booking. You're staying at a home that belongs to somebody, and that somebody is five minutes away.

San Antonio is one of San Miguel's most walkable neighborhoods, a flat 13-minute walk to the Jardín and steps from the organic markets, cafés, and some of my favorite restaurants in town.
Both homes have the architectural details San Miguel is known for. Bóveda ceilings, thick walls, fireplaces, private outdoor space, and local and indigenous art throughout. Comfortable rather than grand. Cozy, quiet, and lived-in.
The rooftop terrace looks out over the mountains and San Miguel's historic churches. Two rocking chairs, a table for four, and a lounge for sunning. It's my favorite place in the house for morning coffee, yoga, or a glass of wine at the end of the day.
Both homes welcome dogs. A refundable pet deposit applies: $250 for stays under a month, $500 for a month or longer.
Casa Avra Casita — Ground floor, one step from the street.
A spacious one-bedroom home with a plush queen bed, plus a loft with a writing desk and a full-size bed. Two large closets. A fully stocked kitchen, a big living room, fireplaces in both the living room and the bedroom, and a private garden patio.
Original local and indigenous artwork throughout. A portable air conditioner keeps things comfortable in the warmer months.

The home unfolds over several levels. A landing office with a daybed, workspace, and full bathroom. A few steps higher, the main living area: two couches, a dining table, a fully stocked kitchen, a fireplace, and windows on every side. A private patio with seating for four, facing the mountains and the sunset.
Up again to the bedroom, with bóveda ceilings, a king bed with organic cotton linens, another fireplace, and a large closet. A mini-split provides both air conditioning and heat.
